Steny Hoyer on Trump’s New Immigration Remarks: What He Says Changes on a ‘Regular Basis’

House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer reacted to President Trump‘s new remarks on immigration today by saying he wants to see “whether it’s real” first.

Trump told reporters today, “The time is right for an immigration bill, as long as there is compromise on both sides.”

Hoyer told MSNBC’s Greta Van Susteren tonight if Trump is sincere, Democrats will be willing to listen, but he wants to see if this is “real reform”:

“It’s always surprising to hear Donald Trump say what he’s for and against because it changes on a relatively regular basis… We’ll see what he says tomorrow, we’ll see what he says tonight, but I was pleasantly surprised that he’s at least talking about moving forward… We need to see the details to see whether it’s real.”
