Steve Bannon Says Israel ‘Not an Ally’ of the US: ‘They Get Us Into Messes’
Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon criticized Republicans for calling Israel the United States’ “best ally” on Tuesday.
“‘The world’s best ally.’ I don’t want Tom Cotton and Lindsey Graham– you gonna tell me that again?” protested Bannon on his Real America’s Voice show War Room:
They’re a protectorate. They’re not an ally. They never fought shoulder to shoulder with us anywhere, okay? They get us into messes like in Iran, where they tried to have regime change and lied about it. Netanyahu and his government are destroying not only the state of Israel and gonna turn it into a Jewish Pakistan, they are hurting the Jewish community throughout the world and turning the world against the Jewish community. Full stop. And anybody that’s pitching and promoting and defending Netanyahu, you’re only hurting Israel and you’re only hurting the Jewish people on a global basis. Full stop. An ally– If you’re an ally, you come and run it by the man before you do it. That’s what an ally does. You come and you run it by the man. The man on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
He continued, “You’re making your problems our problems, and people in this country don’t want your problems. That whole day is over. People don’t want it. That’s your problem and you’re instigating and causing bigger problems. We’ve got enough problems.”
Bannon concluded, “We don’t need your problems that you’re instigating. An attack on a country that President Trump has said we’re going to defend. I don’t know, maybe it kind of makes him look bad on the world stage, a guy you owe everything to. Unbelievable.”
The former White House chief strategist and Breitbart News chairman was reacting to Israel’s bombing of Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar, which Trump criticized on Tuesday.
“I was very unhappy about it, very unhappy about every aspect,” Trump told reporters.
He added in a Truth Social post, “This was a decision made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was not a decision made by me. Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals. However, eliminating Hamas, who have profited off the misery of those living in Gaza, is a worthy goal.”
Bannon has repeatedly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in recent months.
After Netanyahu told Breitbart News in an interview, “You can’t be MAGA if you’re anti-Israel,” Bannon shot back, “American Citizens Do Not Give 2 F***s About Your Thoughts on MAGA, or What Our Citizens Need to Believe—They Care About Exposing Your Pathological Lies in Order to Keep Us Out of Your Next War.”
