Supporter Introducing Hillary Clinton Awkwardly Skips Over ‘Under God’ in Pledge
A supporter opening for a Hillary Clinton event at Camden County College in New Jersey Wednesday started to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, only to stumble over and then omit the words “under God.”
“Only Hillary can bring us together, as one nation,” began country freeholder Susan Shin Angulo as Clinton stood by.
Angulo than began to say “under God” but apparently thought better of it, tripping over the words in the process. “Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!” she finished.
That didn’t stop a fan in the audience from shouting, “Under God!”, earning a big grin from Clinton and applause from the audience.
The words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance are opposed by some liberals, who consider it an establishment of religion contrary to the First Amendment. Clinton however opposes removing the words from the pledge, as do most Americans.
