Susan Rice Blasts Trump’s Attacks on DEI While ‘Dumb as a Rock’ Pete Hegseth ‘Deemed Qualified’
Former United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice torched President Donald Trump for railing against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) while “dumb as a rock” MAGA loyalists like Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth are “deemed qualified” for ranking administration roles.
The comments come as Hegseth is under scrutiny again this week following revelations that he bypassed Pentagon cybersecurity protocols by setting up an unsecured internet connection — known as a “dirty line” — in his office to run the encrypted messaging app Signal on a personal computer.
According to multiple reports, Hegseth used the line to access blocked websites and allegedly texted sensitive military information, including details about strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen, to a private Signal group that included his wife, brother, lawyer, and several associates. The setup reportedly involved three separate computers at his desk, raising serious concerns about potential espionage risks and violations of classified information handling protocols.
Speaking with No Lie With BTC podcast host Brian Taylor Cohen, Rice slammed Hegseth, a former Fox News host, for being incompetent and her belief that he was promoted purely because he was “a white male Christian cisgender macho MAGA man.”
Well, if you’re a white male Christian cisgender macho MAGA man, you can be as dumb as a rock and be deemed qualified to serve as Secretary of Defense. That’s apparently what we’ve learned from this episode.
But let’s also be clear, there’s a serious point here. DEI has been used as a slur to suggest that anybody who might be a woman, might be a person of color, might be a religious minority, might have a disability, might be a religious minority, might be a veteran of Native descent, anybody who has benefited in any way, shape, or form from the notion that we all should be treated equally and that we should be viewed on the basis of our merits and not discounted because we happen to be a woman or happen to be a person of color. Anybody who fits the mold of somebody who is not a white Christian cisgender male, is by definition in this administration deemed inferior. That is the vast majority of the people in this country.
