Ted Cruz Laughs Off His ‘Rick Perry Moment’ on Gov’t Agencies

cruzMany pundits agreed Ted Cruz had a strong debate performance, but there was one moment where he had an issue similar to Rick Perry‘s in 2012.

Back in 2012, Perry infamously said he would eliminate three agencies of government and couldn’t name the third one. During Tuesday night’s debate, Cruz made a similar pledge, only with five.

“Five major agencies that I would eliminate,” he said. “The IRS, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Energy, the Department of Commerce, and HUD.”

Megyn Kelly pointed that out to Cruz tonight and noted how people are already calling it his “Rick Perry moment.”

Cruz laughed it off and joked that it’s so awash in cronyism, it needs to be eliminated twice, before saying he meant the Department of Education as the fifth one.
