The Daily Show’s Lewis Black Auditions to Be Kelly Ripa’s New Co-Host

On tonight’s Daily Show, Lewis Black defended “my beloved” Kelly Ripa amid the drama over Michael Strahan‘s Live! departure and threw his hat in the ring to be her next co-host.

Yes, the cranky comedian is apparently very invested in the relationship between the morning show couple, which he was dismayed to learn was a sham.

Black declared he would kick Strahan’s ass and cried, “This is the worst thing a former football star has ever done to a blonde woman!”

But after going through how badly Ripa was treated, Black suggested that his calm, friendly demeanor would be a perfect fit for a morning audience.
