The View’s Sunny Hostin Lampoons Trump After Visiting His Trial — Performs Twitchy Reenactment of His Courtroom Mannerisms

The View‘s Sunny Hostin had the opportunity to spend another day in court for the hush money trial of former President Donald Trump, and this time her takeaway was an impression of the “enraged” ex-president-turned-criminal defendant.

It was a silent impression, because Trump’s legal team was already warned by Judge Juan Merchan about his apparent muttering during Stormy Daniels’ testimony. But Hostin’s description of Trump during the testimony of Michael Cohen didn’t require any words, just some angry, repressed twitching:

Hostin: [A] lot of people are reporting what was said in the courtroom, right? But no one has really reported about what you see when you’re actually there. And I had said the other day that he appeared orange in an unnatural way. I’ve never seen anyone that orange before. I now have access to binoculars in the courtroom, and so I’m using the binoculars.

Joy Behar: Why, is it such a big courtroom?

Hostin: Yes, it’s a huge courtroom, and they have a camera directly on Donald Trump because we are behind him, so we can’t see his face, but we can see his face on the screen. So while other reporters are zooming in on the documents, I’m zooming in on him.

Sara Haines: Is this your serious legal analysis?

Hostin: It really is. It really is, because I… People have been reporting that he is asleep. He is not asleep. He’s enraged. And that’s why I think he’s so orange, because I think it’s red underneath. I saw him during Michael Cohen’s testimony sort of going like this [Closes eyes, head drops slightly], and I said, “Oh, here, he’s sleeping” and he went– [Eyes remain closed, entire face scrunches up and twitches]. That is what’s happening.

Behar: You know my dog does that when he’s sleeping.

Hostin: When he’s sleeping? He’s not sleeping.
