Tim Scott Goes Full Dear Leader for Trump in Dramatic VP Audition on Fox News

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) was more than effusive in his praise for Donald Trump and his family during an appearance on Fox News Thursday night.

After being asked by Sean Hannity if Republicans were organizationally prepared for the 2024 election — a concern raised by former RNC chairman Reince Priebus — Scott launched into an obsequious rant about the virtues of the GOP standard bearer and his kin.

“Well, let me tell you what: If there’s anyone paying attention to the details in 2024, it’s Donald Trump. Who is now running, co-running the RNC? Lara Trump. Why? Because he understands that the devil’s in the details, so he puts his brilliant daughter-in-law in charge of our RNC apparatus so that all that Reince talked about, wise, wise man he is, will be taken care of,” argued Scott. “We’re going to focus on getting the vote out early, often, mail-in.”

“Whatever it takes, we will match fire with fire. But at the end of the day, you want the ball in the hands of the best player on the field. That player is Donald Trump,” he concluded. “I can guarantee you we will win because we’re coming together.”

Lara Trump has no political experience beyond working on her father-in-law’s previous presidential campaigns. She was elevated to her current post as co-chair of the RNC at the behest of the former president amid debate over whether the organization should continue to provide funds for Trump’s personal legal defense.

Scott has embarked on a months-long campaign of his own to be Trump’s running mate during which he’s endured Trump’s allusions to rumors that the recently engaged senator is gay, been mocked for his short-lived presidential bid, and been forced to stab Nikki Haley — who appointed him to his seat in the Senate — in the back.
