Tom Homan Warns He’ll ‘Triple Down’ on NYC Raids after Mamdani Vows To Eject ICE: ‘Game On!’
Trump administration border czar Tom Homan warned NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani that it was “game on” after the Democratic primary winner vowed to “stop ICE agents from deporting” the city’s citizens if he wins.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old state assemblyman from Queens, has openly slammed the Trump administration and ICE deportations as “fascist” and branded himself “Trump’s worst nightmare.” He vowed to “Trump-proof” the city by removing ICE from city jails, ending all data-sharing with federal agencies, and shielding undocumented residents from deportation dragnets.
Homan appeared on Fox Business Wednesday and promised to “double down and triple down” on immigration raids in New York, brushing off Mamdani’s vow to cut all cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
“Good luck with that,” Homan told host Larry Kudlow, who laughed. “Federal law trumps him every day, every hour of every minute.”
Homan said: “We’re going to be in New York City. Matter of fact, because it’s a sanctuary city, President Trump made it clear we can have a go. We’re going to double down and triple down on sanctuary cities. If we can’t arrest a bad guy in the county jail, one agent arrested a bad guy and they released him in the streets, like New York does every day, we’ve got to send whole teams after this guy. Not only that, we’re going to send additional teams so that, for all the people they arrest, we’re going to concentrate on sanctuary cities because we know they’re releasing national security threats back onto the street.”
He continued: “We don’t have that problem in Florida where most sheriffs work with us.”
He added: “We’re going to double up and triple up on New York. And not only are we going to send more agents to the neighborhood, we’re going to increase work worksite enforcement tenfold. If we can’t find them in the neighborhood, we’ll find them at the worksite. So game on, we’re coming.”
Mamdani, however, is yet to win the mayorship. He now faces current mayor Eric Adams, Republican Curtis Sliwa and independent Jim Walden in the general election, with the possibility of Andrew Cuomo, who lost to Mamdani in the primary but hasn’t ruled out running.
