Trevor Noah Reflects on ‘Year of Donald J. Trump’: ‘Most Terrifying and Funniest Thing’
On The Daily Show‘s 2017 special, Trevor Noah took a moment to acknowledge how “insane” the past year with President Trump.
“I’m not going to lie to you, I can process Donald Trump logically, but emotionally, for me, he’s a paradox, alright?” Noah said, “Everyday, I wake up terrified at the notion that he’s the president of the most powerful nation in the world, but I must admit, everyday, I also wake up knowing he’s going to make me laugh. There is terror and there is joy, and I don’t know how to feel about these two things. Yeah. Because, like, do you ever stop for a moment and think to yourself? Like, it’s the most terrifying thing- and it’s the funniest thing- at the same time.”
He compared the Trump presidency to an asteroid heading towards Earth “but it’s shaped like a penis.”
“Like I think I’m gonna die, but I know I’m gonna laugh,” Noah continued.
The Daily Show host joked about how there could be “less” than 30-something months left of Trump’s presidency, not because of the Robert Mueller investigation but because he simply quits.
“I could see him quitting, could be the first president who just quits the job,” he elaborated. “Two years in, I could see Donald Trump leaving the White House after he’s got all these tax cuts. He could just walk out and be like, ‘I’m done. Unlike most Presidents, I did it in half the time, folks. So much faster.'”
