Trump Praises Flight 93 Passengers: ‘They Entered Eternity Linked Forever as True Heroes’
President Trump spoke at a ceremony in Pennsylvania today to commemorate the victims of 9/11, using much of his speech to applaud the bravery of the passengers of United Flight 93.
Flight 93 was one of the 4 airliners taken over by Islamic extremists in 2001. While 3 of the planes crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the passengers of Flight 93 overwhelmed the hijackers and the plane went down around Shanksville, PA before it could reach its target.
Trump somberly acknowledged the thousands of people whose lives were changed forever 17 years ago, saying “we honor their sacrifice by pledging to never flinch in the face of evil and to do whatever it takes to keep America safe.” He ended up speaking at length about the “incredible valor” the Flight 93 passengers showed as they “joined the immortal ranks for American heroes.”
“They boarded the plane as strangers, and they entered eternity linked forever as true heroes,” Trump said. “They bravely charged the cockpit. They attacked the enemy. They fought until the very end, and they stopped the forces of terror and defeated this wicked, horrible, evil plan.”
As Trump continued by recalling the aftermath of 9/11, he described the Flight 93 as “a monument to American defiance,” saying “America will never, ever submit to tyranny.”
“We treasure their memory. We cherish their legacy. And we ask God to forever bless the immortal heroes of Flight 93,” said Trump. “Thank you. God bless you. God bless the families, and God bless the United States of America.”
