Trump Will Fix Dishwashers and Get More Water Out of Showerheads, Transportation Chief Says

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Wednesday that President Donald Trump would work to fix dishwashers and get more water out of showerheads.

“The president is talking about showerheads,” said Duffy during an appearance on Newsmax. “You don’t have enough water that can come through your showerhead because of Biden’s regulations, and so again, fixing small things like that – hopefully he’s gonna get the dishwashers – wouldn’t it be great if dishwashers worked again? Where you don’t have to wash your dishes first and then put them in the dishwasher to actually get a little heat on them?”

He concluded, “I mean, common sense stuff he’s doing.”

Trump has repeatedly ranted about dishwashers and showerheads, claiming that people were no longer able to wash their “beautiful hair properly” as a result of water restrictions.

“You go into a new home, you turn on the faucet; no water comes out,” he said in 2020. “You turn on the shower — if you’re like me, you can’t wash your beautiful hair properly. You waste 20 minutes longer. ‘Please come out.’ The water — it drips, right? You know what I’m talking — they put restrictors on. I got rid of that. I signed it out. That’s common sense.”

Trump made similar remarks in 2019, telling supporters at a rally, “You turn on the shower, you’re not allowed to have any water anymore,” and again in January 2025, claiming, “When you buy a faucet, no water comes out because they want to preserve.”

“No water comes out of the shower. It goes drip, drip, drip,” he complained. “Very, very little water to go into your dishwasher. Almost none.”
