Tucker Carlson Trashes CNN By Praising Rachel Maddow: ‘She’s Says Who She Is’ But ‘They’re Lying!’
On Tuesday night, Tucker Carlson went after CNN for their handling of the Donna Brazile bombshell.
He began by reporting that according to a “very good source,” CNN president Jeff Zucker was “fuming” and “enraged” during a conference call regarding her allegations that the DNC rigged the Democratic primary. He reportedly urged his senior producers to portray her as a “liar.” CNN’s Jake Tapper had earlier denied the report in a spat with Bill O’Reilly on Twitter.
The Fox News host then brought on Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept to discuss the media’s reporting of Brazile.
“They have a massive vested interest,” Greenwald began. “Any of these journalists who pretend to be neutral but who are actually loyal to the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic party as their overarching worldview. This is incredibly devastating for them for one of their most loyal operatives, an African-American woman at the highest level of party politics for 30 years, comes out and says that the process of choosing their candidate was rigged, that there was smoking gun evidence that she discovered in the form of an agreement that gave control over the DNC to Hillary Clinton before the primary even began, and that she was horrified by what she called this internal corruption.”
Greenwald said that none of their “smear tactics” worked on Brazile so they “manufactured a whole series of lies” about the agreement the DNC made with the Clinton campaign in order to discredit her.
“I personally don’t mind that these journalists adore Democratic Party establishment leaders,” Greenwald continued. “I think they have the right to have that as their cause, I think journalists ought to have opinions, but what I think is really offensive are two things. Number one, when they pretend that they don’t have opinions, that they are really neutral and they conceal and therefore deceive what their true allegiances are. And then secondly, when they’re willing to endorse outright factual falsehoods in order to serve their hidden political agenda. I mean there’s no worse crime that you can commit in journalism than doing that and that’s what so many of them did all week long.”
“That’s exactly right,” Carlson reacted. “That’s why Rachel Maddow doesn’t bother me at all. I like Rachel Maddow. She’s not lying to me! She says who she is, but you watch CNN and they’re lying about it. Drives me insane.”
Carlson and Maddow used to be colleagues at MSNBC and earlier this year were competing in the same time slot.
