Tucker Carlson and Radio Host Tammy Bruce Gush Over Trump Rally: ‘Incredible Crowd’

Fox News aired the entirety of President Donald Trump‘s rally in Duluth, Minnesota on Wednesday night, losing some 45 minutes of precious primetime to the event. But that didn’t bother Tucker Carlson, the Fox News host whose program fell victim to Trump’s scheduling.

Carlson stepped in at the end of the rally, and praised one moment in particular: when Trump said he is more elite than “the elites” because he has a more expensive apartment and is richer than they are.

“Taking on the very idea of the elites in one aside that was, I thought amusing and probably correct,” Carlson noted.

Wednesday night’s rally was textbook Trump: he boasted of the crowd size for a lot of it, and spent the rest of his time calling the media “fake news,” bashing Democrats for wanting people from the Middle East to “pour in” to the U.S., doubling down on his claim that Mexico “sends rapists” to the U.S., saying he had to “liberate towns” on Long Island from gang control, and presumably giving fact checkers a lasting headache.

Tucker Carlson brought on talk radio host Tammy Bruce for some reaction. She went off:

“Look, incredible crowd, they had to change the venue, because there were so many people, he noted that there were thousands more waiting to get inside. Clearly the crowd loved the speech. What I found interesting Tucker, is he’s always been good at these rallies, but at this particular one you could tell that he really understands that crowd. He likes them. When he speaks about what they represent he understands it in his heart. It’s a real indication of his own growth as a man, certainly as president. And that he likes the American people — that is clear — and I think that informs the choices that he makes.”

Bruce went on to explain that she met Trump for the first time at an event on Tuesday night, and marveled at his “charm.”

She continued that “this crowd loved the Space Force idea,” noting “they were chanting Space Force!”

“I’m thrilled with it, you can clearly see the connection with his own basic theory, and his commitment to the country and the issue on the border with the family separation issue and the actions he’s taken,” Bruce said, “compared to the left which I think has been attacking him… to distract.”

She added that liberals getting upset with the separation of children from their families is “contrived.”

Carlson asked how people on other networks could watch Trump’s rally and “conclude, that guy’s Hitler.”

“How are they reaching that conclusion?” Carlson asked. “I don’t see that at all?”

Bruce replied that conservatives “get a variety of information for a variety of sources and we hear a bunch of different kinds of perspectives.”

“If you are only watching a single network, or even a few other networks, but refuse to watch a network like Fox that has a variety of opinions, all you will hear 24/7 is this harangue,” she explained, citing MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and actor Peter Fonda as examples.

“That is exactly right,” Carlson replied.
