WATCH: Fox News Celebrates Dow Crossing 40,000 For The First Time Ever

The Dow Jones Industrial Average crossed 40,000 for the first time in its history on Thursday – a historic feat that Fox News reported on as breaking news.

“So this just happened during the commercial break. The Dow 30 broke 40,000 for the first time in history,” said anchor Bill Hemmer, adding:

It hit 40,000.56 and then retreated just a couple of points. We closed above 30,000. Never closed above 40,000 before. Maybe it happens today, maybe it doesn’t. We’ll see. Dow closed above 30,000 for the first time on November 24th, 2020. That was only three and a half years ago. Dana, I can remember ten years ago, 15 years ago, we’re putting people on the air talking about the books they’ve written about Dow 40,000. I thought they were nuts! And yet here it is today. All right.

The stock market has soared under President Joe Biden despite former President Donald Trump long declaring it would crash with the Democrat in office. CNBC reported that Thursday’s “bull market marched higher on bets that inflationary pressures would ease and interest rates would come down.” The report added:

The Dow was last up 127 points, or 0.3%. At its high of the day, the average touched 40,0051, the culmination of a bull market that began in October 2022. The index had neared the 40,000 mark earlier this year, before a slight April pullback on worries about high interest rates knocked it back down. The rally was rekindled in May on the back of strong earnings and some soft inflation readings.
