WATCH LIVE: Obama Speaks at Official Portrait Unveiling

Former President Barack Obama is set to make an appearance at the National Portrait Gallery — a short walk from the White House he once inhabited — for the unveiling of his official presidential portrait.

The portraits, commissioned by The Smithsonian of the former president and former first lady Michelle Obama, were painted by artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, respectively.

Wiley, famous for his paintings of hip hop artists and African American youth culture, posted a photo to Instagram in January of his meeting with Obama in the Oval Office:

Thank you Mr. President.

The ceremony kicks off at 10 a.m. EST. Watch live above, via the Smithsonian.
