Most Republican lawmakers have yet to take a definitive stand against alleged child molester Roy Moore, with many saying he should step aside in the Alabama Senate race “if the allegations are true,” despite the four named accusers and 27 affiliated sources. Other members of the GOP have actually defended Moore, blaming the accusations on President Trump’s detractors. Oh yeah. There’s also that one guy who said everything was cool because of the Virgin Mary or something.

In other words, this has proven to be a surprisingly tough moment for Republicans. Is a senate seat worth the possibility of tying your political futures to an alleged sexual predator?

Maybe, if this video recently captured by CNN is any indication.

It shows a spate of high profile Republicans, led by Senator Mitch McConnell, refusing to answer questions about Moore for a cringeworthy 44 seconds.

Senator Chuck Grassley seems to giggle at some point, having a grand old time waving his hand and saying “Goodbye everybody. Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye.”

McConnell adopts that same blank-eyed smile he always wears when facing an uncomfortable situation. Senator Orrin Hatch can be seen beaming his pearly whites for the teeming mass of reporters, telling them to “settle down.”

Just look at these guys, having the time of their lives! It’s almost enough to make you forget that Roy Moore has been accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old when he was 32.
