White House Unaware of Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally
Glenn Beck‘s “Restoring Honor” rally, scheduled on the date and location of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech, has drawn varying degrees of criticism as an affront to King’s legacy. At today’s White House briefing, I asked Robert Gibbs if President Obama had any reaction to this, or if they were aware of Beck’s pending permit application with the National Park Service. I was shocked to learn that the White House didn’t seem to know anything about it. Or do they?
Yeah, we don’t know nothin’ about it, and if the National Park denies that permit, it has nothing to do with us, that’s the ticket! This is just what they want you to think, america! You’re playing right into their hands, or R.I.T.H., as in arithritis. Get it, people?
Seriously, though, I would be very surprised if the President hadn’t discussed it with Gibbs, which tells me that the White House plans to stay out of this fight, perhaps reasoning that they don’t need the distraction of a feud with Beck.
I’ll tell you who is aware of Beck’s rally: New Black Panther Party Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz. In our exclusive upcoming interview, he promises that his group will meet Beck at the Lincoln Memorial on August 28.
