Yeah, So Andy Richter Broke Conan O’Brien’s Couch Last Night
Like my momma always said, “It’s all fun and games until you destroy another person’s piece of furniture. Always respect the property of others.” Actually, she never said that, but she probably would if I’d gone on national television and destroyed somebody else’s stuff — which is precisely what Andy Richter did to Conan O’Brien‘s couch on Tuesday’s episode of CONAN.
O’Brien and Richter were trading tips and tricks for Celebrity Jeopardy with guest Lauren Graham. When Richter jumped back into the larger couch for the umpteenth time, it finally gave up and cracked beneath him. I mean, it literally cracked beneath Richter, as the peg supporting the frame snapped at the bolt.
Ever the affable show host, O’Brien launched into a wonderfully comedic tirade:
It clearly — look at that! There’s a bolt sticking out. What kind of sh*tty show is this? You still want a talk show?
With Richter still sitting, O’Brien not-so-expertly reattached the peg while his co-host recalled another time he’d broken the show’s furniture. You see this, Conan? This is why you can’t have nice things!
