‘Did He Say MISSILES?!’ Trump Stuns Reporters By Blurting Out What He’s Building On Roof Of White House
President Donald Trump stunned reporters who apparently misheard his building plans for the roof of the White House as he completed a tour of said roof.
Since taking office for a second time, Trump has overseen massive changes to the physical features of the White House, including a gold-drenched Oval Office overhaul, a paved-over lawn in the Rose Garden, and soon a ballroom — all of which have been compared to his Mar-a-Lago resort.
On Tuesday morning, President Trump surprised the White House press when he suddenly appeared on the roof, apparently to survey the grounds and plan for the new ballroom he’s just revealed plans for.
As reporters peppered Trump with questions, they erupted with laughter when he singled out one of them for a special greeting — Fox News Senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy:
REPORTER: Sir, why are you on the roof?
REPORTER: Mr. President, what are you doing up there?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Taking a little walk!
REPORTER: Come down and talk to us!
REPORTER: What are you building?
REPORTER: How does the Rose Garden look?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: (inaudible) ballroom (GESTURES) on the other side–
REPORTER: Are you considering more renovations, sir?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Hello, Peter!
REPORTERS: (LAUGHTER).
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Looking good, Peter!
REPORTER: Are you going to build up there?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: (GESTURES)
REPORTER: What does that mean?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Looking for more ways to spend my money!
Can you give us another (inaudible)?
I’ll show you. It’s just another way to spend my money for the country.
REPORTER: Are you considering a second story?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Anything I do is financed by me, so it’s not (inaudible) just like my salary is contributed, nobody ever mentions that.
REPORTER: Sir, are you going to add another level?
Minutes later, as Trump was heading back from his lofty walkabout, he shocked reporters who thought they heard him say he plans on building “more missiles” on the roof.
Spectrum News National Political Reporter Taylor Popielarz wrote on X/Twitter, “Before he returned back into the White House residence, we all think President Trump said (in this video) that he’s looking to install more missiles on the roof?”
But a review of the clip clearly shows Trump quipping (?) that he wants to mount “nuclear missiles” on the roof of the White House:
REPORTER: Mr. President, what do you want to build? What are you trying to build?”.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Missiles!
REPORTER: Sir, do you approve–?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Nuclear– nuclear missiles!
REPORTER: You say more missiles?
REPORTER: Are you building missiles?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: (GESTURES WITH RIGHT ARM)
REPORTER: What?
REPORTER: (LAUGHTER) Did he say missiles?
REPORTER: Do you approve of Netanyahu taking over all of Gaza, sir!
