Following Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspending his presidential campaign, political pundits and activists from the left and right came together to dunk on his failed White House bid.

After losing the Iowa caucus earlier this month and dropping in the polls, DeSantis conceded defeat and endorsed his longtime rival former President Donald Trump.

Trump supporters and left-leaning pundits took to X (formerly Twitter) to bash DeSantis, starting with mocking the Florida leader for using a fake Winston Churchill quote in his remarks.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts,” DeSantis wrote on X, attributing the words Churchill. However, the World War II leader never said that, according to the International Churchill Society’s website, sparking further mockery and criticism for the governor.

Meanwhile, even California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who famously debated DeSantis last year, joined the dogpiling on the campaign’s demise with a mediocre, “Fire sale on all Ron DeSantis merch today!” tweet.
