CNBC Anchor Tries And Fails To Interrupt Trump as He Hits E. Jean Carroll With Same Attacks That Cost Him Bombshell Judgment
CNBC anchor Joe Kernen tried unsuccessfully to interrupt former President Donald Trump as he repeated attacks against E. Jean Carroll that have already cost him a bombshell $91.6 million bond.
Trump has been found liable for defaming Carroll over the course of two civil trial victories affirming that, as Judge Lewis Kaplan put it in a ruling, “Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’ Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.”
But on Monday’s edition of CNBC’s Squawk Box, Trump capped off a lengthy and rambling interview by attacking Carroll again as Kernen can be heard saying “But– but–” — and never managing to cut in:
JOE KERNEN: I know you’ve got a lot going on. You’ve got the campaign, you’ve got the legal issues. They people sometimes wonder, you know, how to prioritize and you just keep charging–.
DONALD TRUMP: Hey Joe, the legal issues are and legal issues. They’re Biden issues. Biden put Fanny beautiful Fanny, who’s turned out to be now a corrupt, district attorney. But in my opinion, they’re almost all corrupt. All of the stuff that you say is weaponized government at the D.A. in New York is being run by the DOJ. They put their top person into the DA’s office, all of this stuff.
And frankly, I get a lot of credit for it. I think I’m much more popular now because they did it.
…
And if I didn’t win an appeal on these ridiculous decisions, if I didn’t win on appeal, the most ridiculous decisions, including the Miss Bergdorf Goodman, a person I never, I never me–, I have no idea who she is except one thing. I got sued from that point on. I said, wow, that’s crazy what this is, I got charged–.
I was given a false accusation and had to post a $91 million bond on a false accusation. People aren’t moving into New York because of the kind of crap they’re pulling on me.
JOE KERNEN: But. But.
DONALD TRUMP: I’m like, I feel like I’m a pioneer. What’s happening is we have to be very careful. You know, we have a very fragile country. People are rejecting it and they’re watching. Normally somebody would be out of office. Stuff like that happens.
My numbers are much higher than they would have been had this not happened. But you have to be able to speak about it. It’s a very dangerous thing, very, very dangerous thing for our country. What they’re doing, it’s the weaponization of the DOJ, the FBI, etc..
