Fox News Cameras Catch Moment ‘Hundreds’ of Migrants Cross Through Trump’s Border Wall Into Arizona
Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin reported live from a mass border crossing on Tuesday in Arizona after a large hole was cut in the border fence that was built there in 2019.
Fox anchor Bret Baier began the segment, saying, “Bill Melugin is live in Lukeville with more. Bill, good afternoon. What are you seeing there?”
“Good afternoon to you. We’re seeing a lot of frustration from these migrants out here who feel that Border Patrol has taken too long to pick them up and get them out of this area. We’ll show you a live look at the scene right here,” Melugin reported, adding:
Hundreds upon hundreds of adult men who have crossed illegally waiting here in the Arizona sun for Border Patrol to apprehend them. And they hope to be released into the United States somewhere. But Lukeville, where we are literally in the middle of nowhere, the closest major city over two hours away.
So it’s taken Border Patrol a while to get vehicles in and out to transport them. A lot of men from Africa here, they’re coming in from all over the world, had a chance to talk with two guys, one from Morocco, another from Liberia. They told me they’re not seeking asylum. They’re here for work. They’re here for opportunity. And one of them had this message for President Joe Biden. Take a listen.
“Love you Joe Biden, Thank you for everything. Joe Biden. I’m a good person. I want to be a good person here in the United States,” says one of the migrants on camera.
Melugin continued his report, adding, “And then take a look at this remarkable video we shot right here in Lukeville yesterday afternoon.”
“This is one of the many breaches in the border wall out here. Border Patrol and federal contractors were on-scene trying to fix it when there was a huge rush of illegal immigrants pushing through that gap, trying to get into the country before it was fixed, taking advantage of the situation, you’ll see people rushing through over and over. Then you’re going to see a human smuggler dressed in black on the other side of the wall.
“Once all of his clientele are through, he looks at our camera. He gives us a little shrug, and then he salutes us and walks away,” Melgunin continues, highlighting the extraordinary scene his team caught on camera.
“And that’s just the situation out here guys, back out here live. Border Patrol incredibly frustrated. Their manpower depleted. They’ve got everybody out here processing. They try to patch one of the holes in the wall. It gets cut somewhere else immediately after. Their morale is rock bottom. They’re frustrated. They say they need a lot more help from the federal government,” he concluded.
Notably, construction on the barrier in Lukeville, Arizona began in August 2019 during the Trump administration.
