‘From Day To Night in Real Time’: MSNBC Anchor and Reporter Share Wonder of Eclipse
MSNBC Anchor Katy Tur shared the excitement of the total solar eclipse with reporter Priscilla Thompson live on the air Monday, with Tur marveling, “from day to night in real time!”
“Oh, Priscilla, it’s getting dark,” Tur said from her anchor desk to Thompson who was reporting from Dallas, TX.
“I’m hearing cheers! I think it’s happening! I think it’s happening!” Thompson exclaimed as the light slowly dissipated.
“Priscilla, put your glasses on! Put your glasses on!” Tur said.
“I don’t want to miss it, you’re right. Thank you, Katy, good looking out. Can confirm, there’s only sliver left, a tiny ring.
It is so cool. There it is. There it is. It’s happening! It’s completely gone! I see literally this much. There it is!”
And with total darkness, Thompson and the entire crowd broke into cheers.
“You can see the stars, you can see that beautiful ring. I hope you’re getting a shot of it, and able to experience it out there as well. Katy. It is amazing. It is amazing. Complete darkness,” Thompson said.
“We can see it on the monitor here. It looks incredible from where I’m sitting. What’s more incredible, though, is watching you go from day tonight in real time, and then just seeing the wonder in the faces around you, and trying to put what you’re experiencing into words,” Tur said.
