Huh? Tim Scott — Confronted About Trump’s Repeated Attacks On Nikki Haley’s Husband and Heritage — Claims Haley’s Rhetoric Has ‘Gone Further’

Senator Tim Scott — confronted about former President Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on Nikki Haley — claimed her rhetoric has actually “gone further” than Trump’s.

In an interview on Fox News Sunday, anchor Shannon Bream confronted Scott about Trump’s birther smears of Haley, his mockery of her National Guardsman husband who is currently deployed in Africa, and his giving her the nickname “bird brain.”

“He says things like she may not be eligible to run,” Bream said. “Suggesting she wasn’t born in the U.S., which she was. He calls her bird brain. He made comments about her husband being on military deployment as if he was trying to get away from her. The Wall Street Journal says this — ‘he seems to have forgotten if he ever cared, that he will need some of her admirers to vote for him in November.’ Talking about centrist Republicans, independents, even Democrats who voted for her. Is President Trump writing them off? Where does he think her supporters will go if he continues to attack her like that?”

Scott rejected the premise that Trump’s attacks on Haley have been disproportionate — with the senator noting that Haley has come after him personally.

“We see the Haley camp and the family referring to me as Judas Iscariot,” Scott said. “We’re hearing a lot of chatter out of the Haley camp, not only just matching the rhetoric from the Trump side, but actually going further.”

Trump has recently amplified a conspiracy theory that Haley is not eligible to run for president. At a rally last week, he also mocked Haley’s husband Michael — a National Guardsman currently deployed in Africa.

“Where’s her husband?” Trump said.
