‘It is Ugly Out There!’ CNBC Delivers Grim Update on Wall Street Chaos as Dow Nosedive Hits -1400
CNBC anchor Sara Eisen didn’t mince words recapping the first half hour of the bloodbath on Wall Street Thursday morning.
Reporting at the top of the 10 a.m. ET hour on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street, Eisen filled investors in on the particulars of a morning she labeled “ugly.”
“Big market sell-off this hour, it is ugly out there!” Eisen said. “The S&P 500 down 3.7 percent. The Nasdaq’s down four-and-a-half percent. Not many places to hide in this equity market today. The Dow is down 1,400 points as we speak.”
The Dow went on to hit a low of nearly 1,600 points down just after 11 a.m. ET — before rebounding slightly to be down just under 1,300 points as of this writing.
Eisen went on to echo language used Wednesday by her colleague, Jon Fortt — as she delivered a devastating assessment of the market reaction to the tariffs announced by President Donald Trump.
“Investors digest and process weaker growth on this worse-than-worst-case scenario — as we’re reading about — is the reaction to the tariffs.
