NY Senate Majority Leader Calls On Cuomo to Resign ‘For the Good of the State’
Calls for Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign are growing, and on Sunday a top New York Democrat said it’s time for him to step down.
New York state Senate majority leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins put out a statement Sunday afternoon saying, “For the good of the state Governor Cuomo must resign.”

“Everyday there is another account that is drawing away from the business of government. We have allegations about sexual harassment, a toxic work environment, the loss of credibility surrounding the Covid-19 nursing home data and questions about the construction of a major infrastructure public,” Stewart-Cousins says.
The statement comes on the heels of two additional allegations from former Cuomo aides of inappropriate behavior.
New York state assembly speaker Carl Heastie put out a statement as well saying he shares the same sentiments, but stops short of directly calling for him to resign.
“I think it is time for the Governor to seriously consider whether he can effectively meet the needs of the people of New York.”
