Trump Admin Offers ‘Update’ on TikToker Whose Advice to Migrants on U.S. Squatting Laws Went Viral: ‘Deported’

A TikTok user who went viral across multiple social media platforms last year over a video advising illegal immigrants to take advantage of U.S. squatting laws has been deported, according to the Trump administration.

One of the Trump White House’s numerous X accounts shared a video Friday of Leonel Moreno, who has used the moniker “The Migrant Influencer” online, and announced an “update” on his immigration status.

The White House said Moreno had been deported and included a waving emoji:

In a clip that made its rounds last March, Moreno suggested a way for migrants to remain in the U.S. was to take advantage of laws meant to protect people from evictions.

In the video shared above, which racked up millions of views, Moreno advised followers to invade “empty homes and live there.” He claimed American laws made it easy for people to find housing by simply seizing empty properties and refusing to leave them.

Moreno was arrested weeks later on March 29, according to Sinclair Broadcast Group:

Leonel Moreno was arrested Friday in Gahanna, Ohio, and is being housed at the Geauga County Jail.

He was brought there by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which said the Venezuelan “illegally entered the country” on April 23, 2022.

Border Patrol placed Moreno in ICE’sAlternative to Detention program, whichuses technology and case management to ensure compliance with release conditions.

But Moreno was told to report to Enforcement and Removal Operations office within 60 days, and he did not.

Moreno was scheduled for deportation last year by the Biden administration, Fox News reported.

In other viral clips, Moreno insulted Hispanics who worked outdoors and flaunted cash.

“I didn’t cross the Rio Grande to work like a slave,” he said in a TikTik video. “I came to the U.S. to mark my territory.”
