Trump Confronted Over ‘Campaign Cash’ Gap With Biden As He Lands For Fundraiser: ‘Will You Be Able To Catch Up?’

A reporter confronted former President Donald Trump over the gap in “campaign cash” with President Joe Biden and the Democrats, asking, “Will you be able to catch up?”

News outlets have consistently reported on the massive fundraising disparity, and President Biden and his campaign have become more aggressive about mocking “Broke Don” over the issue. The gap widened after a $26 million fundraiser headlined by Biden, former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, and attended by a host of other notables.

Trump answered questions from reporters after he landed in Atlanta, Georgia Wednesday for a fundraiser of his own. One reporter pressed Trump about the issue, and Trump pointed to a fundraiser his campaign says earned a record $52 million:

REPORTER: How about money, campaign money? The RNC has been trailing Democrats in fundraising. You’re here in Georgia to raise money. Are you going to be able to catch up to Democrats when it comes to campaign cash?

DONALD TRUMP: Well, I’m not working very hard (airplane noise) the other night, which is an all-time record, I do believe. They did the 24. And we did 52, we did it very easily and I didn’t need three presidents, I did myself. I didn’t need so-called stars. We did it ourselves.

The Republican Party has a lot of money coming into it. It’s coming in in small donations, $61 average. We did some large donors the other night. We did. We broke the all time record, $52 million.

We don’t need the money that — if you remember Hillary Clinton, I had about one third of the money that she had. And. Who won? I’m not exactly sure. Who won?

So we don’t need the same kind of money that they need. They need more money to take care of more politicians. They hand it out like it’s gravy.
