Trump Praises Reporter for Asking Fawning Question Mirroring White House Press Release: ‘Now THAT’s a Question I Like!’

President Donald Trump commended a reporter who showered his administration with praise while asking a question in the Oval Office on Monday.

Trump — as well as several members of his cabinet — were joined by Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele as they fielded questions from the media. With Bukele in the White House, many of those questions revolved around Trump’s mass deportations to the Salvadoran prison CECOT. Things even got contentious when CNN’s Kaitlan Collins pressed both presidents on the mistaken deportation and incarceration of Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia. The Supreme Court recently ruled that the Trump administration must “facilitate” his return to the U.S., but the administration has argued it doesn’t mean they have to bring him back.

After a series of tough questions, Trump was pleased when a reporter asked something much lighter in comparison.

REPORTER: You scored another major investment win this morning when Nvidia pledged to build its AI supercomputer — the first time ever right here in the United States.

TRUMP: Thank you. Now that’s a question I like! That’s true.

REPORTER: What is your reaction to this announcement, sir? And how will this positively benefit Americans?

TRUMP: Well, it’s one of the biggest announcements you’ll ever hear because Nvidia, as you know, controls almost the entire sector — which is one of the most important sectors in the world between chips and semiconductors and everything else — and they’re the biggest. And the other biggest, we already have coming in and spending $300 billion, as you know they announced two weeks ago. But Nvidia is so highly respected; and this was an announcement that a lot of people — I knew it was going to happen, but not to the extent that it happened. It’s big.

The question sounded awfully similar to a press release the Trump administration published earlier in the day, which said:

For the first time ever, chipmaking giant NVIDIA will manufacture its AI supercomputers entirely in the U.S., the company announced today — part of its pledge to produce $500 billion of AI infrastructure in the U.S. over the next four years.

The company will build and test its advanced chips in Arizona and its AI supercomputers in Texas over a million square feet of new manufacturing space.
