Former President Donald Trump made a shocking joke at a closed-door fundraiser, telling attendees he wouldn’t use the Resolute desk if he wins the election because President Joe Biden defecated on it.

New York Times correspondent and CNN analyst Maggie Haberman reported Sunday night that Trump laughed and joked at a private event about welcoming immigrants from “nice” countries — that are also predominantly White — like “Denmark, Switzerland,” and “Norway.”

The comments drew a blistering rebuke from President Biden’s reelection campaign, which interpreted the remarks as a thinly-veiled racial appeal.

But Haberman’s article, co-written with Michael Gold, contained another detail from the event. Haberman and Gold wrote:

Mr. Trump blamed his successor, Mr. Biden, for the influx of migrants and mocked him and aides for what Mr. Trump said were bad decisions made around the Resolute Desk, which has been used by two dozen presidents.

“The Resolute Desk is beautiful,” Mr. Trump said. “Ronald Reagan used it, others used it.”

He then denigrated Mr. Biden, sounding disgusted, according to the attendee: “And he’s using it. I might not use it the next time. It’s been soiled. And I mean that literally, which is sad.”

The attendee who witnessed the moment said that dinner guests laughed and that Mr. Trump’s remark was interpreted as the former president saying that Mr. Biden had defecated on the desk.

Trump’s campaign “did not address” the quotes when Haberman contacted them for the story.

The White House did not provide a comment on Trump’s crack, but a Biden 2020 campaign alum sarcastically said:

From a 2020 alum: “I know, Joe Biden didn’t even have the decency to plot a cop-killing riot or call our fallen “losers” from there. Where’s his sense of decency?”

One of the more revolting details of the January 6 riot was the fact that the pro-Trump mob urinated and defecated in the Capitol and smeared the walls with said excretions.
