Activists Use Three Billboards For Answers on Deadly London Fire

Activists in London are relying on Hollywood to get answers regarding the tragic fire that left 71 dead at Grenfell Tower last June.

The group, which calls themselves “Justice 4 Grenfell,” has been unsatisfied with the lack of transparency surrounding the investigation of the fire is attempting to pressure Parliament to release information regarding what caused it. So this week, they had three mobile billboard trucks driving around London and parking in front of Parliament and Grenfell Tower in order to publicize their mission.

The billboards read, “71 DEAD,” “AND STILL NO ARRESTS?” and finally, “HOW COME?”

They are clearly inspired by the Oscar-nominated film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. It surrounds a mother (played by Frances McDormand) and her efforts to seek answers from the Ebbing police department on the murder of her daughter. Her billboards, which share the same color and font as the ones used in London, read “RAPED WHILE DYING,” “STILL NO ARRESTS?” and “HOW COME CHIEF WILLOUGHBY?” Chief Willoughby is the police chief in Ebbing played by Woody Harrelson. Three Billboards is directed by Martin McDonagh.

It is yet to be known whether this tactic will be effective.
