Al Sharpton Calls on Black Churches to Lobby for Iran Deal
MSNBC host and activist Al Sharpton has called on traditionally African-American churches to lobby their congregations in favor of the Iran deal negotiated by the Obama White House.
“I am calling on ministers in black churches nationwide to go to their pulpits Sunday and have their parishioners call their senators and congressmen to vote yes on the Iran nuclear plan,” Sharpton said in an interview with the Huffington Post.
Sharpton claimed that the African-American community had a greater stake in the success of the Iran deal, since “if there is a war, our community is always disproportionately part of the armed services, and that a lot of the debate is by people who will not have family members who will be at risk.”
