Amber Vinson Now Ebola-Free, Will Move Out of Isolation
More good Ebola news: Amber Vinson, the Dallas nurse who contracted Ebola and subsequently flew on a flight from Cleveland, no longer has any traces of the virus in her system.
The CDC said in a statement that Vinson will be transferred out of isolation, but will remain at Emory University’s Serious Communicable Disease Unit to monitor her recovery.
“Amber and I are ecstatic to hear this latest news on her condition,” her mother, Debra Berry, said in a statement. “We all know that further treatment will be necessary as Amber continues to gain strength, but these latest developments have truly answered prayers and bring our family one step closer to reuniting with her at home.”
Vinson was infected with the disease after treating Thomas Duncan, a Liberian man who was admitted to the Dallas hospital where she worked and subsequently died. A second nurse, Nina Pham, is currently being treated at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md.
