Like some left-wing figures, right-wing columnist Ann Coulter also called for abolishing a law enforcement agency this week. Only in her case, it wasn’t ICE, but rather, the nation’s top law enforcement agency.
“It’s time to disband the FBI,” Coulter said.
The conservative pundit was speaking by phone with Howie Carr for his web show on Newsmax TV when she made the remark. (As reported by Right Wing Watch.)
Carr had mentioned that Coulter’s father worked in the FBI as a segue to bringing up disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok.
Mentioning her father’s experience, Carr remarked “wasn’t it somewhat discouraged for FBI agents to get themselves into potentially blackmailable situations, like say having an affair with a coworker?”
“I mean why was there no investigation of Strzok?” he asked. “Strzok just got promoted up through the ranks because he was such a rabid Democrat, even though he was violating every rule in the book.”
“It’s time to disband the FBI,” Coulter responded. “This is not J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI, which was so good that liberals are still hysterical over it.”
“Yeah, my father was in the bureau for a few years after law school. You not only had to be a lawyer back then in order to be an FBI agent, as I think I’ve told you on your program before,” she said. “It wasn’t strictly policy but J. Edgar Hoover, and of course they were all men, generally preferred Catholics and Mormons on the ground that were incorruptible, they were very, very honest and you could trust them.”
Coulter added, “you didn’t really have a lot of…trouble under Hoover, and we actually had an enemy in Russia then.” You know, because we don’t know, she means.
