Anonymous Twitter Account ‘Goldman Sachs Elevator’ Gets an Exposé Book Deal

In proof that if you just work hard enough at a Twitter account you will eventually make it in America, the puppeteer behind @GSElevator, an anonymous account that (supposedly) tweets out words of vulture-like wisdom overheard in the offices of Goldman Sachs, has signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster.

Tentatively titled Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance and Excess in the World of Investment Banking, the book is set for an October 2014 release date, and will be “the definitive exposure of investment banking culture… shedding new light on a world that is far more abhorrent, and yet, way more entertaining than people can imagine.” Le samples:

The amount S&S paid for the book is as unknown as the author, who will publish under the pseudonym J.T. Stone, also the name of an erotica author, so maybe that’s something to think about.

According to the Financial Times, the book deal comes at an awkward moment for the Wall Street firm everybody loves to hate, as it is up to its expense accounts in a public relations effort to resuscitate its image. (Whatever for?)

Rumors that “Straight to Hell” is already a Clash song detailing the evils of globalization went unconfirmed at press time.
