Anti-Gay Pastor Retracts Endorsement After Trump Denounces Orlando Attack
James David Manning, the notoriously homophobic Harlem pastor who calls himself “the sodomite slayer,” retracted his endorsement of Donald Trump Tuesday in reaction to Trump’s rhetoric on the terrorist attack on an Orlando gay club that left 49 dead.
Trump raised some eyebrows in December when he met with a group of black pastors that included Manning. Manning than enthusiastically endorsed Trump, calling him “one of the wisest, most patient, humble, gracious—yet strongest leader I have ever encountered in all the days of my life.”
But Manning appears to have cooled on Trump following his condemndation of the attack.
I am sadden to withdraw support @realDonaldTrump. My bible beliefs are deeply held. Sodomy is more dangerous to America than radical Islam
