Anti-Trump Protesters Hang ‘Resist’ Banner From Construction Crane Near White House

Several people have climbed a construction crane in the middle of Washington D.C., where they are launching a protest against President Donald Trump.

At approximately 8 A.M. EST on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police Department was informed that demonstrators were scaling a crane that was less than a mile away from the White House. Seven protesters are believed to be involved, and they have hung a large banner from the crane with the word “RESIST” on it.

Environmentalist organization Greenpeace has taken responsibility for the protest, which is specifically directed towards Trump’s executive orders to advance the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines.

“While Trump’s disdain and disrespect for our democratic institutions scare me, I am so inspired by the multigenerational movement of progress that is growing in every state,” said Greenpeace chairwoman Karen Topakian. “Greenpeace has used nonviolence to resist tyrannical bullies since 1971, and we’re not going to stop now.”

The demonstration is the latest in a series of anti-Trump protests that have taken place since his inauguration.
