Baylor Athletic Department Official Charged With Assaulting a Reporter
A Baylor University athletic department official has been charged with a misdemeanor in connection with an incident on Nov. 5 in which he is alleged to have grabbed a sports writer by the throat.
KWXT reports that Heath Nielsen, an associate athletic director for the school, is accused of grabbing the writer by the throat and pulling him away from a player following the football team’s 62-22 loss to TCU.

According to the KWXT report, the reporter — James McBride of Texas Blaze News — asked for and received permission from a football player to take a photo. According to an affidavit, Nielsen then shoved McBride away and said “He’s abusing his privileges.”
In response to a request for comment, Baylor athletic official Nick Joos said:
“Baylor Athletics was made aware of the post-game incident involving Heath Nielsen shortly after the game and took immediate action to address it with him through the University’s human resources process. We will continue to handle this personnel matter internally.”
