Bernie Says Congress ‘Must Not Allow the Tweeter in Chief’ to Unleash Nuclear Arms Race
Former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders took to Twitter today to respond to President-elect Donald Trump’s tweet yesterday about the need for the United States to “expand and strengthen its nuclear capability.”
The Vermont Senator also bestowed another title on the incoming POTUS.
Congress must not allow the Tweeter in Chief to unleash a dangerous and costly nuclear arms race. https://t.co/YYdlo3tSoa

He followed that up with another tweet stating that past presidents from both major parties have understood the need to decrease the number of nuclear weapons.
Presidents, Republicans and Democrats, have understood that our goal must be to reduce the number of nuclear weapons, not expand them.

Following up his tweet, which was similar to comments made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump’s transition team attempted to clarify his comments by saying he meant he wanted to modernize nuclear arsenal. However, Trump told Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski this morning the following: “Let it be an arms race, we will outmatch them at every pass. And outlast them all.”
