Boko Haram Pledges Allegiance to ISIS in New Message

Boko Haram has declared its allegiance to ISIS in a new message posted online today. Boko Haram had, just a few days ago, released a video that looked similar in appearance to the ones ISIS has been releasing every time it’s killed a prisoner.

But according to The Guardian, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said in a new video today, “We announce our allegiance to the Caliph … and will hear and obey in times of difficulty and prosperity.”

He specifically identifies Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, ISIS’ current leader, in the message. Global security firm Flashpoint Intelligence confirmed the authenticity of the message.

Meanwhile, earlier today, the Nigerian city of Maiduguri was hit with several bomb blasts in an attack possibly connected to Boko Haram.
