Michael Cohen’s Mysterious Third Client Is Sean Hannity
During Michael Cohen‘s hearing in Manhattan today, his lawyer revealed that his mysterious third client is none other than Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
Cohen appeared in court today in order to challenge the FBI over their recent raid on his office and seizure of his various records and documents. Court filings showed that Cohen gave legal advice to three clients this year: President Trump, former RNC finance chairman Elliott Broidy and a third party who wanted to not be identified.
Multiple reporters who attended the hearing live-tweeted the moments where Cohen and his lawyer tried to seal off the third client from being put on the record.
McKay noted that Cohen refused to disclose the third client’s name under seal.
“If he can’t disclose the client name, even to the court under seal…” McKay asks how the government can contest an overbroad claim of privilege.

Judge Wood wants to know the “legal grounds” for withholding the client’s name.
After commenting on Cohen’s responsibilities, Ryan says: “I’m simply trying to protect the privacy of that individual.”
An attorney for the press objects, notes that the public also has a right.

When the judge told Cohen’s lawyer that the third client didn’t meet the legal grounds to be kept out of disclosure, the name came out:
Michael Cohen’s previously unnamed third client is SEAN HANNITY.

The Wall Street Journal‘s Rebecca Ballhaus reached out to Hannity for comment and received this response:
Sean Hannity’s response to being named Michael Cohen’s third client: “We have been friends a long time. I have sought legal advice from Michael.”
