Several Dead In Germany After Vehicle Crashes Into Group of Pedestrians (UPDATE)
It has been reported from various news sources that a van has collided with a group of pedestrians in Muenster, Germany, resulting in dozens of injuries and several fatalities. Police have said that the driver of the vehicle is one of the deceased, with it being reported the driver committed suicide.

Per local media, law enforcement authorities are assuming that the incident was a deliberate attack and are investigating it as such. They are now looking into the driver’s motivations and seeing if the driver acted alone.
“The perpetrator drove into several cafe and restaurant terraces in a major square in the centre of Muenster,” police spokesperson Vanessa Arit told news agencies.
Authorities have stated they found a suspicious item in the vehicle but didn’t reveal any further details. While providing those details, a police spokesperson said the suspect hadn’t;t been identified yet and that it was still too early to definitively call the incident an attack.

UPDATE 3:48 PM ET: German police have released new casualty numbers, now stating two people were killed and 20 others were injured before the driver killed himself. German officials have also said there doesn’t appear to be any signs of Islamic extremism as being a motivation in the incident. Some outlets are claiming the driver was a 48-year-old German-born man who had a history of mental issues.
