TheBlaze Conducts Mass Layoff

TheBlaze — the Glenn Beck-founded multi-platform conservative outlet — conducted a sizable layoff on Thursday.
In a note published by Beck to The Blaze‘s website, the company founder said that more than 20 percent of the combined workforce of Mercury Radio Arts and TheBlaze have been let go.
Mike Opelka is among the staffers who confirmed he has been let go:
Almost seven years after joining @theblaze, my ride has ended. Thanks to all who supported me. https://t.co/6HcBbVHLPj Watch This Space.

Thursday’s move by TheBlaze follows recent similar mass layoffs by Fox Sports, MTV, and Mic.
A source with knowledge of the situation told Mediaite how it all went down.
“We didn’t receive an email,” the source told Mediaite. “We started work just as we normally would, then got word through Slack by people saying one by one they were out.”
The Blaze made a similar move last year — as they let go of an estimated 40 people in April 2016.
This story is developing and we will have more information as it becomes available.
