Charleston Shooting Suspect’s Uncle: He Got a Gun for His Birthday
Lots of details have come out today about Charleston shooting suspect Dylann Storm Roof and how he may have held racist beliefs. In an interview with Reuters today, Roof’s uncle provided more insight into his background and character.
Carson Cowles said that Roof was a very quiet person and “nobody in my family had seen anything like this coming.”
Roof is Cowles’ sister’s son, and he said he told her years ago he was concerned about how Roof was too quiet and “just stayed in his room a lot of the time.”
Cowles also revealed that for Roof’s 21st birthday a few months ago, his father gave him a .45-caliber pistol for his birthday.
