Charlie Hebdo’s Defiant Response to Attack on Paris: ‘F*ck Them! We Have Champagne!’

The last time Paris came under attack by ISIS-linked extremists, 11 employees of Charlie Hebdo were murdered after the magazine published satirical cartoons that poked fun of Islam. Today, the magazine teased the cover of their next issue, with a defiant message for those responsible for the massacre that killed over 120 people on Friday.

The widely-shared image shows a man dancing around and drinking champagne even as it leaks out of what appear to be bullet holes. Business Insider translated the caption, which reads “They have the weapons. F*ck them, we have the champagne!”

The cartoon seems to display France’s resilience in the face of the disaster, as well as reinforce the comments made by Hebdo cartoonist Joann Star shortly after the attacks.

As the world still reels from the fallout, France is still in a state of emergency, arrests and manhunts are being conducted across Europe, and President Francois Holland has declared war on ISIS while authorizing the bombing of Syria.
