Chris Coons Campaign Ad Puts Christine O’Donnell In “The Twilight Zone”

Stealing a page from the Bill Maher playbook, Chris Coons‘ new strategy is to let clips from Christine O’Donnell‘s past play out. The Democrat’s new campaign ad features O’Donnell commenting on witchcraft, myths, and evil scientists that “come up with mice with fully functioning human brains.” The ad sets these “strange things” to the spooky theme from The Twilight Zone, and the narrator then asks a question familiar to many voters this year: “Huh?”

The question is never answered in this ad, which, as Politico points out, is the first from Coons to focus on something other than his own record. At this point in the campaign, O’Donnell is basically out of money, and polls show Coons is enjoying a safe lead. There probably isn’t a real need for him to remind voters that O’Donnell tends to be, um, offbeat, so it kind of feels like he’s just having a bit of fun while he can. You can indulge him in the ad below.
