Matt LeBlanc of Friends fame recently signed on to the BBC’s Top Gear, which has been having staffing shake-ups for over a year. As was revealed today, more staffing shake-ups came after that, and rumors say that it’s all because of LeBlanc.
His co-host, Chris Evans, announced his departure from the popular show today.
Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.
— Chris Evans (@achrisevans) July 4, 2016
Per Us Weekly, the two “butted heads” and that British tabloids have been claiming LeBlanc threatened to leave the show if Evans wouldn’t.
Evans, for his part, is taking the high road. He released a longer statement on the BBC website. Here it is:
I have never worked with a more committed and driven team than the team I have worked with over the last twelve months. I feel like my standing aside is the single best thing I can now do to help the cause. I remain a huge fan of the show, always have been, always will be. I will continue to focus on my radio show and the allied events that it encompasses.
First Brexit, now this. Could things get more chaotic in the UK?
