Christmas Tree Used at Trump Rally Causes City Official to Release Apology

In honor of Donald Trump bringing his “thank you” tour to Mobile, Alabama, the mayor’s chief of staff Colby Cooper had a tree chopped down in a local park. The tree was set up behind the President-elect and decked out with Christmas ornaments in an effort to “to make sure every detail was covered and the expectations of the President-Elect’s team were exceeded,” according to the Huffington Post.

Also according to HuffPo, Cooper is really sorry about that.

After locals raised some serious questions about the felling of the tree at Public Safety Memorial Park, Cooper said in a statement that he was “overzealous” and will be “”more sensitive to the spectrum of concerns regarding trees.” He even stated he accepts full responsibility for the removal of the tree.

Last but not least, he took his apologies to Twitter, where he announced plans to fund the planting of more trees.

The saplings had better hope Trump doesn’t win a reelection bid in four years.
