John Harwood: ‘Sean Hannity Choked’ By Abandoning Roy Moore Ultimatum
The 24-hour ultimatum which Sean Hannity delivered to Roy Moore on Tuesday — clear up the inconsistencies in your defense or drop out — was nothing but a distant memory by Thursday evening. Hannity, on Wednesday’s broadcast, backed off his demand after a receiving an open letter from the Alabama Senate candidate — in which Moore only issued full denials against two of his accusers.
“We demanded, rightly, answers from Judge Moore,” Hannity said Wednesday. “And he provided them to the specific questions we asked.”
Appearing on The Beat Thursday, CNBC editor at large John Harwood blasted Hannity for doing a 180.
“I think Sean Hannity choked at that particular moment,” Harwood said. “Once he heard some answers, they couldn’t quite say to Judge Moore, ‘get out.’ And he said, ‘I know the people of Alabama. They’re good people.’ It’s not about the people of Alabama. It’s about Roy Moore. He simply got to a point that he didn’t want to cross the line he so flamboyantly said he would.”
Choked. Wow.
We know Hannity is loathe to mix it up with rival media personalities. But we’re pretty sure the Fox News host can’t let that charge go unanswered.
“Sean Hannity choked.”
Strong words. We’ll be on the lookout for Hannity’s rebuttal Thursday night. In the meantime, watch above, via MSNBC.
